SURPRISE: Trump’s Pro-Black Policies Helped Win More Black Votes for Bishop in North Carolina Special U.S. House Election for the 9th District

By Frances Rice

Republican Dan Bishop won the special election in South Carolina’s ninth district by two percentage points over Democrat Dan McCready in a race that garnered national attention as a possible preview of the 2020 presidential election.

Little media attention was paid to the election results of Robeson County that has a large African American and Native American population, which makes up the majority of the voters.

In that county, Republican Dan Bishop did much better than Republican Mark Harris fared in last November’s race.

This is an indication that President Donald Trump’s support among black voters is increasing due to his policies and actions that are improving the economic prosperity of back Americans.

Under President Trump, the unemployment rate for African-Americans fell to 5.5%, a new record low.

Information about the increased black voter support for the Trump-backed candidate is buried in the article with the title “Republican Dan Bishop Wins 9th District Redo” by Steve Harrison & David Boraks that can be found on the Internet at: https://www.wfae.org/post/republican-dan-bishop-wins-9th-district-redo
