Supreme Court denies request to halt construction of the border wall

By Shannon Bream, Bill Mears | Fox News

The Supreme Court by a 5-4 vote has denied a request to halt construction of President Trump’s border wall over environmental concerns.

A number of groups, including the ACLU and Sierra Club, had asked the high court to get involved again after the justices last year cleared the way for the administration to use military funds for construction while the case played out in the courts.

A federal appeals court had ruled against the administration last month, but the justices, for now, have given another temporary victory to the administration.

"The fight continues,” said Dror Ladin, a staff attorney with the ACLU’s National Security Project. “Every lower court to consider the question has ruled President Trump's border wall illegal, and the Supreme Court’s temporary order does not decide the case. We’ll be back before the Supreme Court soon to put a stop to Trump’s xenophobic border wall once and for all.”

The four liberal justices dissented from Friday’s order.

In June, the Supreme Court also declined to hear an appeal from a coalition of environmental groups that pushed back against the Trump administration's construction of the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The groups, led by the Center for Biological Diversity, challenged a 1996 law giving the president authority to fight illegal immigration and border crossings, and limiting some legal challenges.

The coalition claimed that the Trump administration did not conduct sufficient environmental impact studies for the construction and that endangered species like the jaguar and Mexican wolf would be adversely affected by the barrier.

They had asserted in their case that the law’s allowance for the secretary of Homeland Security to waive any laws necessary to allow the quick construction of border fencing violates the Constitution’s separation of powers. The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals had dismissed the case, citing a prior case from 2007 with "a nearly identical context."

"This Court finds that precedent persuasive, and it compels the conclusion that Plaintiffs' complaint fails to state plausible constitutional claims as a matter of law," the Circuit Court's ruling said.

Black Man Known for Standing Outside With ‘Vote Trump’ Signs Murdered in Broad Daylight

By District Herald

When they say “Black Lives Matter,” it is clear the left does not mean black lives like the one of Bernell Tremmell.

Tremmell was well-known in his Milwaukee community for being an outspoken advocate for President Donald Trump. He would spend his days out in the heat at City Hall or in his neighborhood with his homemade signs urging people to reelect the president in November.

On Thursday afternoon, the 60-year-old activist was fatally shot in broad daylight outside his business, Expression Publications. The storefront was covered in signs with bible verses, along with “Vote Donald Trump 2020,” and “Re-Elect Trump 2020.” The suspect reportedly drove up, shot him, and drove away.

Ingraham: Do you know his name?

Law enforcement sources told “The Dan O’Donnell Show” that they do not yet know the motive for the murder, since they have not yet made any arrests, but “detectives are investigating the possibility that Tremmell was killed over his political beliefs.”

Reggie Moore, Milwaukee Office of Violence Prevention director, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he had “intervened in a dispute between Trammel and a young man” that he thought was “related to a Trump sign that Trammell was carrying.”

It is unclear if the altercation was a factor in his death.

“I had an interaction with him last Saturday across the street from Walmart on Capitol Drive,” one woman who did not wish to be identified told the radio show. “It was the second time I had seen him with his Trump sign and I pulled my car over to chat with him. What a nice, friendly man! We chatted for several minutes, and I told him I was proud of him and he’s very brave to put himself out there so visibly as a Trump supporter!”

Heavy.com reports that a man named Kevan Penvose wrote on Facebook that Trammell “was a man with whom I hardly ever agreed about anything he wrote on his signs, but also, as a Rasta street preacher, he was one of the people that make my neighborhood so uniquely wonderful. Around 12:30 this afternoon I heard gunshots nearby as I was working at my dining room table. Soon after, I was reading reports on social media of a shooting around the block, at the location of this one-of-a-kind storefront that I’ve walked by a million times… Peace and light, Ras Bernell.”

Anyone with information on the murder of Tremmell is being urged to contact the Milwaukee Police Department.

What happened to the Tea Party?

By William Haupt III | The Center Square

“This City is what it is because our citizens are what they are.”
– Plato, Motto Tea Party Alliance

The Boston Tea Party in 1773 was more than a mercantile protest by the Sons of Liberty targeting the abusive Tea Act and Townshend Act. Although America strongly opposed the Townshend Act, their rebellion was in response to the continued violation of their rights by the English. As patriots destroyed an entire shipment of East Indian tea that night, they sent a message to the British: They were “mad as hell and refused any future abuse of their natural and God-given rights as free men.”

The Boston Tea Party was one of the most significant events in world history. It was an American resistance movement against the violation of the right to representation during the historic Age of Enlightenment. Enlightenment thinking undermined the authority of the monarchy to exercise total control over the people. It provided the impetus for the revolutions of the 18th century that fostered the principle of the inherent rights of man to self rule. And those rights can’t be violated by anyone.

On Feb. 19, 2009, in the wake of numerous government attempts to repair an economy that “it broke itself,” CNBC radio show annotator Rick Santelli set off a powder keg of protests when he told viewers, "We're thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party in July! All you capitalists that want to show up at Lake Michigan, I'm going to start organizing!"

Within a week, average Americans began forming Tea Party groups around the nation as a result of Santelli's rant. Within months, Tea Party protests consumed America.

“Challenging our leaders is as American as it gets.”
– Rick Santelli

As the President Barack Obama and his liberal Congress continued their assault on the Constitutional and natural God-given rights of average Americans, within two years the Tea Party movement had shifted the entire political equation. Considering Obama had been swept into office with a mandate driven by Black voters to “fundamentally change America.” and given a massive majority in Congress to do it; this proved again that Americans “were as mad as hell and were not going to take abuse any longer.”

The Tea Party movement was a grassroots effort to shrink the federal government to its original Constitutional size. The movement was comprised of groups of concerned citizens who believed America was moving away from its core principles of limited government and democracy. Mark Williams, president of The Tea Party Express, spearheaded opposition to government-run health care and helped Republicans take back the Congress after the passage of Obamacare in 2010.

Tea Partiers were patriotic, religious middle class conservatives. But the left attacked them as right wing extremists. They viewed them as a resistance movement against Obama’s change campaign.

The left and their media condemned them as a race-based patriarchy, angered and outraged over Obama’s ethnicity? Yet over 30 percent of its members were non-white. The left had union members and professional paid agitators disrupt peaceful Tea Party protests against the passage of Obamacare.

Yet after Obama’s second election, the steam quit flowing from the party’s tea pots. They viewed the GOP's Mitt Romney as a booby prize, but felt people would be “mad as hell again” since they lost their health insurance and premiums doubled under Obamacare. But Romney was a wimp compared to media mega messiah Obama, and the Tea Party was left standing at the altar. And membership dwindled as they put their tea pots back in storage. Today, there are few active Tea Party groups in America.

Although many tea partiers came out of hiding claiming responsibility for Trump’s victory, they were most likely drinking cannabis tea. President Trump was elected by the average American who was “mad as hell again” after watching the economy flounder in limbo for four years. They were fed up living under a regime that catered only to identity groups and did nothing for the average American.

From the time Trump threw his hat in the ring, he was castigated by the media and the far left. He is the first president to be impeached before even being elected. He restored America as the leader of the free world. Until the COVID-19 crisis, he had the highest sustained economic growth in history. No other president has had higher minority employment numbers. Yet Trump is tarred and feathered by liberal media and leftists everyday. Why is the Tea Party in hiding when our president needs help the most?

"No matter how good my numbers are, I can’t do anything right.”
– Donald Trump

Ten years after the Tea Party movement began, the House Tea Party Caucus is long gone. So too are almost of all the 87 House Republicans elected in the biggest GOP wave since the 1920s. In a recent telephone survey, Rasmussen found only 8 percent of all voters identify with the Tea Party, and just 10 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of it. Back in 2010, this polling organization found that 39 percent of voters surveyed identified as Tea Party members and 41 percent had a positive opinion of them.

During Trump's first two years, the lack of support from the Tea Party groups cost the GOP control of the House. There was little support from conservative organizations to force House members to actively pursue putting Obamacare out of its misery. There was even less to build a wall to protect America from illegal immigration. Then the GOP lost the House to the socialist left.

“We’ve got lots of lobbyists here. But where's labor, activists, community leaders and voters?”
– Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The Tea Party was the only faction in the Republican Party that was actually concerned about civil liberties, evidenced by Sen. Rand Paul's efforts to safeguard the Fourth and Fifth Amendments. While the Tea Partiers had a fetish for intransigence over compromise, that would have raised the bar on eventual compromises on policies for the moderates and conservatives. Today, the socialist left is garishly demanding and won’t compromise on anything that doesn’t benefit socialist causes.

Billie Jean King told us, “Victory is fleeting.” Average Americans, not patriotic organizations or Tea Party groups, elected Donald Trump. And most average Americans are not activists or members of organized political groups. They depend on citizen-led political groups to inform and mobilize them when Congress and the president need help with policy and legislation. Yet Tea Parties fell asleep at the wheel of liberty before Trump was elected and can’t be found when he needs their help now.

Obama was chosen by the far left to usher in the era of Democratic Socialism and ration our liberty one new law at a time. They were set to finish the job with Hillary Clinton when Donald Trump flew into Washington on a Leerjet to save us from total self destruction. Yet the Tea Party failed to help him.

“Nobody should ignore the fires around you after a victory, while they still burn.”
 – Rick Santelli

The left is “mad as hell” and the media has helped them beat up Trump and the GOP since he was elected. They are well financed and organized, raging war in precincts and the streets with paid leftist mobs to win the next election. Where is the Tea Party now? If they don’t come out of hiding soon and brew up a potion to rekindle the fires of patriotism, they’ll be nothing more than a line in the first new left history book after next election.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead

Jim Jordan Airs Disturbing, Yet Powerful Video During Bill Barr Hearing

By Cortney O'Brien | Townhall.com

Source: AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) used his opening statement at Tuesday's House Judiciary Committee hearing with Attorney General Bill Barr wisely. He began right after Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) spent several minutes painting Barr as someone who blindly does whatever President Trump tells him and has worked to destroy the integrity of the Justice Department. Nadler was particularly upset after the Trump administration sent federal agents into U.S. cities that have been steeped in violence after the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd. According to Nadler, the DOJ is now just "a shadow of its former self."

When Jordan had the spotlight, he asked for a video to be shown. It began with clips of different media outlets referring to the riots we've seen these past few months as "peaceful protests." The video then cut to a presser about the death of retired black police captain David Dorn, who was killed during a riot in St. Louis as he was helping protect a local business.

The video proceeded to show other footage of rioters toppling statues, looting local businesses, and running over police officers. It was scary, scary stuff. I've included the video here but be warned it does have some graphic and disturbing footage.

Jordan then thanked AG Barr for working to restore the rule of law and speaking out against the Defund the Police movement. He added that the Democrats have "absolutely nothing" on him.

"And so all they got left is to attack the Attorney General who had the courage to state the truth right from the get-go," Jordan said.

Nadler complained that the minority did not give them a 48-hour notice that they were going to be playing the video.

Right. Because that's the main issue.

The Full Video Montage of Violent Riots Democrats Didn't Want You to See at AG Barr's Hearing

By Julio Rosas | Townhall.com

The Republican side of the House Judiciary Committee played a video montage of the violence that has been occurring in the United States since the death of George Floyd at the beginning of the committee's hearing with Attorney General William Barr.

The montage, which included video taken by Townhall, was played on Tuesday as part of Ranking Member Jim Jordan's (R-OH) opening statement, which has no time limit. The Democrats, who are in charge of the hearing, cut the video short after it played for around seven minutes.

"There is no time limit in opening statements. They cut [the video] because they are scared of the truth," a Republican source on the Committee told Townhall.

"I hope Mr. Jordan will never complain about the length of my opening statement. Without objection, I will insert the Committee's audiovisual policy into the record of this hearing. And note the minority do not give the committee the 48-hour notice required by that policy," Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) said after the video was cut.

The montage included moments taken in Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, and Portland. It shows rioters attacking police officers with fireworks, rocks, and bottles. Video also showed the looting that has occurred in various cities and it showed the moment when rioters set the 3rd Minneapolis Police Precinct on fire in May.

"We have the obligation to protect federal courts, and the U.S. Marshall specifically has been given that obligation. Federal courts are under attack. Since when is it ok to try to burn down a federal court?" Barr asked lawmakers during the hearing.

Black Lives Don’t Matter To #BlackLivesMatter

By Derek Hunter | Townhall.com

Source: AP Photo/Richard Vogel

We need to stop pretending that the group “Black Lives Matter” gives a damn about the lives of black people, police brutality, or anything other than hammering huge corporate checks and electing Democrats. This sham of focusing on a dozen or so instances of unarmed black people killed by police (many of whom had cars as weapons) is an insult to the thousands of black lives snuffed out every year by other black people. If you care about black lives you don’t ignore the pile of bodies that could stretch around the globe, which is exactly what everyone marching, rioting, and dancing in the streets are doing. It’s pretty sick.

It’s a great marketing gimmick – come up with a slogan that is basic, simple, and no one disagrees with it. It’s harder to do than you’d think, people make a lot of money doing it. But for every “Where’s the beef?” there are a million “What beer drinkers drink when they’re not drinking beer.” “Black Lives Matter” is brilliant in its simplicity, which is why it works and why leftists latched onto it. But it’s a fraud.

If black lives mattered to Black Lives Matter, with the kind of resources they’re raking in, the amount of good they could do would be immeasurable. Community watch organizations could be started, diversion programs, education initiatives, and rewards could be offered for information leading to the arrest of any of the murderers of any of the thousands, especially black children, killed in cities across the country.

Of course, they wouldn’t do that because it would involve the police and sending people to jail, and they don’t want the police to exist or anyone in prison. Plus, and this is the main reason, it wouldn’t help Democrats.

These Marxists are getting rich perpetrating the greatest fraud on the American public since Bernie Madoff, only it’s all legal. Titans of industry, professional athletes, some of the most powerful politicians in the country are bowing to these anti-American opportunists and treating them like they’ve really hit on something…mostly because they have. Money.

How much have they raised and where is it going? Who knows? When wrapped in “social justice,” no one seems to care. It’s all conveniently funneled through the Democratic Party’s fundraising apparatus “ActBlue,” so it’s unlikely anyone will bother to ask.

The media is too busy pretending they’re legitimate, that there’s some epidemic of police murders and brutality against black people to even accidentally question anything about the group. Plus, why would they? No one bothered to ask about steroids when an average hitter started belting homeruns after putting on 40 pounds of muscle in the off-season, they were all on the same team.

When Don Lemon insisted Black Lives Matter didn’t say anything about the scores of murdered black people because they were explicitly an organization against police brutality, he was speaking for the entire left-wing establishment. Either they’re ignorant or liars - neither option matters.

The group has involved itself in everything from supporting illegal immigration to denouncing the existence of Israel, the idea that they can’t be bothered to work to prevent murders of the very people their existence claims to care about is simply stupid.

The only explanation is that they don’t care about black lives. Much like when the environmental movement morphed from global cooling to global warming and now the catch-all “climate change,” the “solution” leftists proposed remained the same – bigger government, more regulation, higher taxes, etc. The “movement” of Black Lives Matter is a convenient delivery device for a leftist agenda of wealth redistribution, socialized medicine, prison depopulation, and greater government control.

None of this is by accident, none of it is grassroots. Its leaders are “trained Marxists.” That they would be an appendage of the Democratic Party makes sense. The party that uses school shootings to dust off and market gun control legislation they’ve long wanted, or coronavirus pandemic emergency spending to shovel money to their donors and allies has long showed us who they were. Did anyone really think they wouldn’t use anything they could paint as racist as cover for their socialistic economic agenda?

Democrats need cover for their generations of indifference toward the black community. They have exclusively presided over the destruction of majority black cities, the education of black children, and the disintegration of the black family, not to mention subsidizing and cheering the extermination of millions of black lives in the womb.

Democrats need to convince people they’re the defenders of black lives to distract from how they and their policies have ruined them. But to Democrats, black lives don’t matter. The mob in the street, all those white college girls screaming at black police officers about how they don’t understand this or that about racism, to the people looting and destroying businesses or trying to burn down buildings, they don’t give a single damn about black lives. And “Black Lives Matter”? They care that the checks clear, their merchandise sells, and Democrats win. And all of them hope no one notices the truth before November.

Election Turns On Five Questions, Such as Marxism

By CONRAD BLACK, Special to the Sun

The presidential election result is now down to five questions.

  • Can the President override the Democratic press’s thunderous campaign to terrorize the country over the coronavirus?

  • Can the president successfully connect Vice President Biden’s campaign to the hooligans, anti-white racists, and urban guerrillas who effectively are being encouraged by the corrupt Democratic mayors of many of the nation’s largest cities?

  • Will the economic recovery and the decline in the unemployment generated by the COVID-19 shutdown continue at its recent pace and strengthen the economy as a pro-Trump electoral argument?

  • Will special counsel John Durham indict senior members of the Obama Administration over their handling of the spurious allegation of collusion between Donald Trump and the Russian government in the 2016 election and Justice Department violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and how will Mr. Biden himself come through it?

Apart from the Durham question, the president has it in his power to produce answers favorable to himself on the other four questions.

He has a defensible record in his handling of COVID-19, was prescient in restricting direct air travel from China and Europe to the United States (which the Democrats opposed), and cooperated even with governors who had been extremely antagonistic prior to the pandemic. He sought and accepted the guidance of leading epidemiologists in taking drastic measures to “flatten the curve,” and he showed evident executive ability in quickly developing world-leading coronavirus testing capacity and supplying essential equipment throughout the country.

Mr. Trump has been represented as cavalier about the virus itself — a perception problem that has arisen due to his efficient response and move to reopen the economy more quickly than the Democrats, who had hoped that they could prolong the shutdown until the election in order to blame the president for the resulting economic depression.

The president effectively declared victory and sponsored a back-to-work movement and the Democrats have responded by using their iron-fisted control of the national political press to portray the President as cruel and incompetent, while they espouse a completely fatuous policy of indefinite lockdown, colossal emergency income substitution from the treasury, mass testing and tracing of everyone that has been in recent contact with those who test positive and badgering them to self-quarantine.

It is absurd. The President moved on Tuesday to counter this campaign in his first coronavirus press meeting for many weeks. He was businesslike and effective. What is needed is a full-scale public relations campaign including news film of the president at key distribution sites and medical centers. Excessive staging and histrionics must be avoided, and the reduction in fatality rates, improvement in techniques for protecting the immunity-challenged, and administration of therapeutics should all be emphasized — it being understood that 90% of the national political press will go to extraordinary lengths to deny the president credit for anything. At some point, there should be a backlash in the President’s favor to this heavy press bias.

Urban violence, defunding police, and the balance between curbing police mistreatment of African Americans and doing everything reasonably responsible to discourage and punish crime, have now become a great chicken game.

The president has already begun to taint the Democratic Party by identification with notoriously corrupt and incompetent Democratic civic political machines. The Democrats have governed in Chicago for 89 years. Their ethics and competence have been in decline for decades and latterly in freefall, and the present mayor, Lori Lightfoot, is a racist and a seeming idiot. The Jussie Smollett case was a vivid depiction of the venality of the Chicago Democrats; they are so rotten it is a wonder that the roofs are still on the public buildings.

In New York City, the surrealistically inept mayor, Bill de Blasio, has squandered almost everything his distinguished predecessors Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg accomplished. Eric Garcetti in Los Angeles, Ted Wheeler in Portland, and Jenny Durkan in Seattle are all hopeless and the last two, as well as Mayor Lightfoot of Chicago, effectively have sided with rioters and arsonists against their own police departments.

Parts of Chicago and New York are just 360-degree shooting galleries as the demoralized and defunded police essentially have given up, and murder rates have skyrocketed. The president will have to judge when it is better to exercise his constitutional duty to defend federal government property and ensure the enforcement of the nation’s laws than it is to allow the sanguinary spectacle of the disintegration of municipal government in some of the nations great cities to illuminate the depths of Democratic urban decay and hypocrisy.

As the country awaits the president’s timing in these matters, there is no reason to doubt that unemployment will continue to descend quickly. A huge amount of new demand has been injected into the system by relief measures and people prefer employment to unemployment, a preference further economic assistance measures should encourage.

The Democratic pantomime of posing as the chief enemies of the coronavirus rather than its political beneficiary, and as the authors of emergency job or replacement schemes more remunerative than work itself cannot last much longer.

There is no need until after Labor Day to paint too vividly the implications of the “progressive” unity agreement between presumptive Democratic nominee Biden and Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders. It should be a strong argument in September and October, especially the intended elimination of the oil, gas, and coal industries and their 7 million jobs, the destruction of the southern border wall the president has been building, the reopening of the United States to unlimited illegal entry, the enactment of a substantial part of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s infamous $52 trillion healthcare plan, sharp income tax increases and likely a wealth tax.

Important to note, too, is their intentional strangling of the American ethos of self-advancement through hard work and merit as well as their push for the destruction of independent schools in order to reinforce the monopoly of the strictly Democratic teachers’ unions. The hope of these Democrats is to impose more of the slothful philistinism and the largely anti-American current spirit of American schools and universities. Lazy and unpatriotic Americans tend to look toward Democrats for salvation.

Joe Biden is an implausible candidate; the Democratic Party has disgraced itself by its reliance on pestilence and racist mobs, and its platform consists of exploitation of public COVID-19 hysteria, the creation of lawless urban chaos while blaming it on Mr. Trump, a Marxist economic redistribution, and the embrace of unlimited undocumented immigration.

A Democratic Party victory would cripple the free market, strangle the American tradition of earned upward mobility, buy votes with unprecedented cynicism and extravagance, and entrench a regime of socialist wealth redistribution which has never attracted significant public support anywhere in the United States.

Only the dementia of fanatical Trump-haters and the almost airtight political bigotry of the national political media have permitted this levitation to continue as long as it has. It will not make it to Election Day.

While we’re toppling offensive symbols, what about the Democratic Party?

By JOHN KASS

Democrat President John F. Kennedy and South Carolina Democrat Governor Fritz Hollins Celebrate The Confederate Flag

History is important, but history can also be quite offensive.
But there’s one thing wrong with Sharpton. It’s not that he goes too far. It’s that he doesn’t go far enough.
Because if he and others of the Cultural Revolution were being intellectually honest, they’d demand that along with racist statues, something else would be toppled.
And this, too, represents much of America’s racist history:
The Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party historically is the party of slavery. The Democratic Party is the party of Jim Crow laws. The Democratic Party fought civil rights for a century.
And so by rights — or at least by the standards established by the Cultural Revolutionaries of today’s American left — we should ban the Democratic Party.
Not only get rid of it in the present, but strike its very name from the history books, and topple all Democratic statues of leaders who benefited, prospered and became wealthy by cleaving to the party. And shame Democrats until they confess the truth of it.
The Democratic Party’s military arm in the South was the KKK. The Democratic Party opposed the 14th and 15th Amendments to the Constitution, making the former slaves citizens of the United States and giving them the vote.
If the new Cultural Revolution was serious, wouldn’t it also demand that the Democratic Party be put in a museum somewhere, away from decent people, along with those Confederate statues?
We could put Democrats in exhibits, behind glass, watching white political bosses chomp cigars and pass out goodies for votes, as minorities were relegated, as they are today, to failing schools and lost educational opportunity and neighborhoods that have become killing fields for the young and old.
And in great museums, the Democrats could be studied, safely, without endangering the sensibilities of the children.
Hillary Clinton Gets A Kiss From Senator Robert Byrd, A Former Recruiter For The Ku Klux Klan Who She Praised As A Great Leader
We might even peer down on an animatronic Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd, once a leader of the KKK. And with him, prominent animatronic Democrats who, just a few short years ago, said wonderful, moving things about Byrd after his funeral.
I’m convinced.

Black Portlander Changes His Mind About the Nightly Protests After He Attends One

BY JEFF REYNOLDS | P J Media

AP Photo/Noah Berger

A Portland resident who is black and lives downtown a block away from the Justice Center thought the nightly protests had been completely peaceful. Then he attended one and had a rude awakening.

Gabe Johnson, a 48-year-old black man who served in the Marines, now says that Portland police should use any means necessary, including force, to sweep the riots off the streets and end the nightly violence.

In an interview with PJ Media, Johnson said he considers himself a patriotic American, and that the United States flag should be a symbol of unity for all Americans. He laments how some have turned it into a symbol of racism and division, especially in Portland.

Last Saturday night and into Sunday morning, Johnson says he was in bed trying to sleep, but the noise kept him awake. He counted 82 explosions disturbing his sleep. Then, with his air conditioning running and bringing in air from outside through the vents, he was suddenly immersed in tear gas from the street below. That’s when he decided to take action.

“You know, so I literally stood up and just yelled,” Johnson said in the interview. “‘Oh my God,’ I actually yelled. ‘Oh my effing God.’ It was just like somebody has to do something. I don’t know what that something is. I didn’t at that time, but I knew something had to be done and I figured I would just sleep on it.”

The next day he went down around noon to the ongoing protests in front of the Justice Center to hang a couple of American flags on the fence and start a dialogue with some of the protesters.

“When I woke up in the morning,” Johnson said, “it was clear as day, almost like it was just planted in my head. This is what you’re going to do. Hopefully we can start a conversation. Here we are now we are starting this conversation. But I can tell you the experience was eye-opening. I did not believe what I used to call the rhetoric about antifa. I was thinking that maybe they’re just, you know, some punk kids or whatever it was, some righteous anger in there. I quickly found out that that’s not the case.”

Having worked for the State Department after an eight-year career in the Marines, Johnson has done a lot of duty overseas. He says the antifa rioters in Portland use the same tactics he’s witnessed from terrorists. “They’re utilizing the same tactics that any other terrorist organization would,” Johnson said. “They’ve got spotters with cameras that will follow you around, and they’ve got their thugs. Those are the guys with the baseball bats. They have people that will intimidate you in Black Lives Matter attire.”

Johnson says his goal was to try to convince Portland protesters to stop tearing America apart, and to start bringing it together. “What is more patriotic than our flag?” he said. “What will really just be in your face, America? This is America, right? I wanted to have a conversation so that they would understand that what they’re doing is tearing the country apart and not bringing it back together, and hopefully by telling this community that we live in it’s time to start a conversation and it’s time to unite America. Because the Black Lives Matter movement has turned into something else. Antifa has attached itself to this movement now and it’s taken it over.”

It’s important to note that Johnson is no fan of Donald Trump, and is not a conservative. He considers himself a moderate. He also considers himself a patriot who is tired of watching America come apart at the seams. When he went to the protest, he did not encounter other patriots, but he did encounter protesters who aren’t from Portland.

“It’s beyond me how they can sit there and say that they’re not causing damage or rioting,” he said. “It’s a riot, and it’s real, and when you are on the front line and you’re looking back into that crowd, it is an angry mob that is built on doing as much destruction as possible.”

“Unfortunately, 90% of the people don’t look like me, but 99% of the people that I talk to don’t even live in Portland,” he added. “If you are down here at one of these movements or one of these protests, one of the things you’re going to notice is there’s a lot of out-of-state license plates. People are very brazen about the fact that no, they’re not from here.”

When he went down to the protest with his flags, Johnson expected to talk to people. He didn’t expect to be assaulted. Several people stole his flags and stomped them on the ground. One older black man, around 65 years old, grabbed one of the flags and handed it back to Johnson. A protester promptly punched the man in the face and ran off.

Reminder: This all took place in broad daylight, not at a late-night riot.

Johnson says protesters called him a coon, Uncle Tom, and the n-word—”with the -ER, not -a.” He has done several interviews this week because he wants the world to know that when leaders say that the federal law enforcement officers have caused the riots, and that the protests are largely peaceful, that’s a lie.
