The Story Behind Trump's Second Assassin Took a Strange Turn...and It Involves the Media

By Matt Vespa | Townhall.com

Donald Trump was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida, when Ryan Wesley Routh waited along the green, hoping to assassinate the former president and record it. He left a GoPro and an AK-style rifle mounted with a scope on the scene. He was later apprehended by local police, but not before scurrying when Secret Service agents opened fire on him; they saw the barrel from his gun through the shrubbery.

Ryan Wesley Routh has a criminal record that spans the Himalayas. We’re waiting to see if he was on the radar for any federal law enforcement agencies vis-à-vis recent threats: the FBI has a terrible track record of being ‘in the know’ concerning future perpetrators of firearm-related crimes nowadays. Yet, in an odd turn, the media had this joker on their radar. They interviewed him. When his name was released, The New York Times must’ve checked their clips because there he was. The publication interviewed him about the ongoing war in Ukraine—Routh appears to have been obsessed with the subject:

In a telephone interview with The New York Times in 2023, when Mr. Routh was in Washington, he spoke with a self-assuredness of a seasoned diplomat who thought his plans to support Ukraine’s war effort were sure to succeed. But he appeared to have little patience for anyone who got in his way. When an American foreign fighter seemed to talk down to him in a Facebook message he shared with The New York Times, Mr. Routh said, “he needs to be shot.”

In the interview, Mr. Routh said he was in Washington to meet with the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, known as the Helsinki Commission “for two hours” to help push for more support for Ukraine. The commission is led by members of Congress and staffed by congressional aides. It is influential on matters of democracy and security and has been vocal in supporting Ukraine.

Mr. Routh also said he was seeking recruits for Ukraine from among Afghan soldiers who had fled the Taliban. He said he planned to move them, in some cases illegally, from Pakistan and Iran to Ukraine. He said dozens had expressed interest.

“We can probably purchase some passports through Pakistan, since it’s such a corrupt country,” he said.

It is not clear whether Mr. Routh followed through, but one former Afghan soldier said he had been contacted and was interested in fighting if it meant leaving Iran, where he was living illegally.

Semafor also spoke to this man

When Ryan Routh spoke to Semafor on March 7, 2023, he was frustrated with the Ukrainian government for which he’d traveled around the world to support.

The Ukrainians, he complained, were being too rigid about admitting foreign soldiers of dubious qualifications, including a group of Afghan commandos who were facing skepticism and bureaucratic roadblocks in Kyiv.

“Ukraine is very often hard to work with. Many foreign soldiers leave after a week in Ukraine or must move from unit to unit to find a place they are respected and appreciated,” he told Semafor. He’d been “yelled at” every time he suggested they tap Afghan commandos. “They’re afraid that anybody and everybody is a Russian spy,” he said with frustration.

[…]

When Semafor talked to him, Routh was one of a wave of American volunteers in Ukraine, the self-appointed director of a group he’d started called the International Volunteer Center. He was, even by the standards of that frantic moment, a bit over the top, a Ukrainian involved in the effort told us at the time. But he was also, they said, authentically involved in the efforts to bring in foreign troops, and we quoted him in a story about the Afghan fighters.

On X, he frantically tweeted at President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with his ideas — for instance, “to use Independence Park to create a tent city of all the foreigners here in support to get thousands more foreign civilians to come and support Ukraine.” Zelenskyy did not appear to respond.

He’s also featured in pro-Ukrainian propaganda. The whole story has now taken a weird turn. Moreover, how long do you think until this story gets suffocated by the media? Look what happened to Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was killed trying to assassinate Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Secret Service can’t stonewall anymore, not with two assassination attempts on Trump within the past 65 days.

What are the odds that the two shooters who have attempted to assassinate President Trump are in two very distinct and different commercials?  One supporting Ukraine and the other a BlackRock ad 🤔

Routh was a virulent anti-Trump nutter butter, though I’m sure the media will pitch the usual ‘we don’t know his motives.’ They shouldn’t: enough of his anti-Trump social media posts were screenshotted, and his son said he hates Trump. Gee—what a mystery this is, right?

Yet, the Ukraine stuff and these supposed contacts with various government entities add a new layer of intrigue. Did this man ever meet with these top officials?

LIVE UPDATES: Trump Survives 2nd Assassination Attempt — This Time at His Golf Course

By Matt Margolis | P J Media

AP Photo/Stephanie Matat

Update 5:56 p.m.: Multiple media outlets have identified the suspect as Ryan Wesley Routh.

Update 4:51 p.m.: The FBI now says it is investigating "what appears to be an attempted assassination of Trump."

Update 4:22 p.m.: Martin County, Fla., Sheriff William D. Snyder told reporters that his department surrounded and intercepted the car with the suspect, whom he described as "relatively calm, flat affect... never asked what this is about." Snyder said he knows the suspect's name but declined to share that information. He is reported to be in his late 50s.

Police immediately turned him over to the FBI, and bomb-sniffing dogs cleared the vehicle. Snyder said that all roads in the vicinity are closed by order of Gov. Ron DeSantis. Trump was escorted back to his Mar-a-Lago home.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) just posted on X, "Just spoke with President Trump. He is one of the strongest people I’ve ever known. He’s in good spirits and he is more resolved than ever to save our country."

Original story:

Gunshots were reported shortly before 2 p.m. near former President Donald Trump’s International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., while the former president was playing golf. According to multiple reports, the Secret Service took Trump to safety "after agents opened fire on a man who was spotted with what may have been a gun while the former president was on the links, according to law enforcement sources."

CNN reports that "police believe an armed individual intended to target Trump."

An individual has been detained, and a Russian-made AK-47 was reportedly recovered at the scene. In addition, a black vehicle has been impounded.

The shots came from "a few hundred feet from where Trump was playing," according to Fox News. "It was the Secret Service that fired the gunshots" after they saw a man carrying a long gun," Fox reported. He reportedly dropped the gun and ran and was apprehended by Secret Service.

It's unclear at that time whether Trump has been evacuated from the golf course.

Sources said the Secret Service spotted a suspicious individual on the Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach, and opened fire when agents saw what appeared to be the barrel of a gun.

It’s not clear whether the man was on the course or near it.

An agent opened fire, shooting multiple times.

According to the report, the man was later arrested by local police.

Though details are limited, according to Fox News, Trump's presence on the golf course was not part of his public schedule.

Initial reports suggested two people were firing at each other. However, sources said investigators now believe the Secret Service agent was the only shooter.

The man’s motives are not yet known. He was arrested by Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies.

The White House issued a statement soon after the incident: “The President and Vice President have been briefed about the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course, where former President Trump was golfing. They are relieved to know that he is safe. They will be kept regularly updated by their team.”

"President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time," Steven Cheung, director of communications for the Trump campaign, said in a statement received by PJ Media.

There are reports that officials believe Trump was the intended target, though PJ Media has not been able to verify this claim independently.

The Left Is Powerless in Stopping the Haitians Eating Pets Story...And It's Amazing to Watch

By Matt Vespa | Townhall.com

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, though in this instance, it’s not a statement regarding some appalling examples of liberal media bias. For the Ohio Haitians ‘eating the pets’ story, it’s pure entertainment, maybe a touch of schadenfreude: the liberal media is being tortured in their attempt to neutralize the story. Contrary to the establishment press, this story hasn’t been debunked. There’s no way within 48-72 hours that authorities can verify dogs and cats are not being eaten by the tens of thousands of Haitians in Springfield, Ohio.

As for the local birdlife, geese and ducks are being eaten, with police reports to corroborate the allegations. Even a fact check done by local media on that story's angle hasn’t negated it. If anything, it might have shined a light that this problem has expanded. I’m talking about the viral picture of the migrant holding a dead goose—that was not in Springfield but nearby Columbus.

The inability of the media to suffocate this story alluded to the industry’s appalling lack of trust. No one believes them, no matter how hard they try. It only seems to further entrench people’s belief that Haitian migrants are running wild in Springfield. The consumption of pets needs to be verified, but many corroborating eyewitness accounts exist. Geese and ducks are being taken, driving out of control in the town. It’s led to fatalities.

Even when liberals try to mock Donald Trump for mentioning it in ABC News’ debate, it’s become a MAGA anthem. The songs are gold, only adding to the media’s inability to stamp out this story, which shines a direct light on Biden’s failed immigration policy. In this initiative, Kamala Harris was appointed border czar.

They can’t stop it, and it won’t be stopped. The media can only cope and seethe.

BREAKING: Pennsylvania Court Ruling a Massive Election Integrity Win on Mail-In Ballots

By Becca Lower | RedState.com

AP Photo/John Locher

Remember during the 2020 elections, when several blue states (including the commonwealth of Pennsylvania) rewrote on the fly the laws about how, when, and where mail-in ballots (AKA vote by mail) would be counted? It led to many voters becoming jaded and distrustful of a system that had been considered one of the most honest and free to hold elections in the world.

Courts ended up striking down those revised laws, and now we have news of a massive win for election integrity on mail-in ballots by the state Supreme Court in one of those states--the Keystone state of Pennsylvania:

The post reads:

This is a MASSIVE win that will have major implications in the most important swing state in 2024.

The PA Supreme Court has a 5-2 liberal majority.

Yet they just ruled 4-3 that it's illegal to count misdated mail in ballots, overturning decisions made by liberal lower courts.

An election security group, RITE, swiftly celebrated the ruling with a statement:

The RNC and Trump 2024 Campaign political director, James Blair, reacted with jubilation on the news

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump have released a statement on the court ruling:

"This is a huge win to protect the vote in Pennsylvania that will secure commonsense mail ballot safeguards and help voters cast their ballots with confidence. The Keystone State will be absolutely critical in this election, and the Supreme Court has decided a major victory for election integrity."

Democrat Sen. Blumenthal Warns ‘American People Will Be Shocked, Astonished and Appalled’ by Report on Secret Service Failures in Trump Assassination Attempt

By Jim Hᴏft | Gateway Pundit

Sen. Blumenthal warns the report on the assassination attempt on Trump will “shock, astonish, and appall” the American public. (Credit: Fox News)

Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) warned that the American public would be ‘shocked, astonished, and appalled’ by the level of incompetence and failure within the Secret Service surrounding the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Trump almost got killed during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, by Thomas Crooks, an armed assailant who somehow infiltrated the rally, climbed onto rooftops, and fired off multiple shots.

Crooks, who had been seen staking out the rally beforehand, was able to carry a gun onto a rooftop, leap between buildings, and crawl across a metal roof before launching his attack.

According to Kimberly Cheatle, the former director of the Secret Service, security was a “colossal failure.”

The Gateway Pundit has published exclusive reports indicating the assembled group yelling, which included local patriot Greg Smith.  The group could see the sniper team on the second floor.

Watch This Short UNBIASED Video Comparing the Top 4 Self-Defense Calibers and See If YOU End Up Changing Handguns

Smith could also allegedly see that the second-floor sniper team was watching Crooks for a half hour prior to the shooting, doing nothing.

Chilling texts, which were obtained by the New York Times from local law enforcement, detail the frantic communications of counter snipers.

One of the countersnipers sent a message to his colleagues indicating that his shift was ending. At approximately 4:26 PM, he observed a suspicious individual—later identified as the assailant, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks—sitting on a picnic table just 50 yards from the exit.

“Guys I am out. Be safe,” the sniper wrote. “Someone followed our lead and snuck in and parked by our cars just so you know. I’m just letting you know because you see me go out with my rifle and put it in my car so he knows you guys are up there.”

He added that Crooks was “sitting to the direct right on a picnic table about 50 yards from the exit” in a message sent at 4:27 PM, a little over 90 minutes before the gunman fired. The two other countersnipers responded with a thumbs-up emoji and a “Roger that.”

Since that dark day, there has been little explanation from authorities as to how such a catastrophic failure in security could have occurred.

Even more damning is the revelation that former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and her agency reportedly denied repeated requests for increased security by worried agents assigned to Trump’s detail.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) shared whistleblower information about the dismal training provided to Homeland Security personnel assigned to protect Trump during the Butler rally.

According to the whistleblower, these agents received only a “two-hour online webinar” as their preparation for the high-stakes event. The training was described as inadequate, with pre-recorded videos riddled with technical glitches.

Blumenthal, speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, promised that an upcoming report on the incident will reveal damning details about the Secret Service’s failures that day.

“I think the American people are going to be shocked, astonished, and appalled by what we will report to them about the failures by the Secret Service in this assassination attempt on a former president,” Blumenthal said.

This comes after acting U.S. Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe briefed senators on Thursday during a closed-door meeting, providing an update on the ongoing investigation into the attempted assassination, Fox News reported.

Blumenthal was tight-lipped on the specifics of the report but made it clear that the findings would expose a litany of errors.

“I’m not going to go into what we have learned in specifics. I’m giving you my reaction, and we will have a report very, very soon that I think will absolutely shock the American people, or it should, about the lapses and lags in the protection that was afforded that day, and the breakdown in communication, failure, and responsibility.”

He went on to blast DHS for its lack of transparency, calling out the department for withholding critical information.

“I think they also ought to be appalled and astonished by the failure of the Department of Homeland Security to be more forthcoming, to be as candid and frank as it should be to them in terms of providing information. And we are going to absolutely insist on the truth, and the whole truth, in documents and testimony, not only as members of the United States Senate but also as citizens.”

“It will be coming out shortly. And it’ll only be an interim report because there’s a lot more information that we need to find,” Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., told Fox News.

“And we hope once this report comes out and we can get the additional information necessary to have a complete report of what happened, as well as steps of what we need to do in the future to make sure that this never happens.”

Aurora, CO Police Arrest 8 'Tren De Aragua' Gang Members Who Have Been Terrorizing City, 2 More Sought

By Bob Hoge | RedState.com

Nadav Soroker/The Gazette via AP

As RedState’s Ward Clark has reported extensively, apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado, have reportedly been taken over by the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, whose members charge rent on the apartments they have seized, sell drugs, and engage in sex trafficking. Residents have reported that they feel helpless and that no one has come to their aid.

Assistance came Wednesday in the form of the Aurora PD, who announced that eight of the gang members were taken into custody and two more were being sought. A joint statement was released by Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman and Council Member and Public Safety Chair Danielle Jurinsky with the "full endorsement" of the city manager and Aurora Police Department:

"For some time, well before concerns about TdA in Colorado generated national attention, APD had been arresting people for various criminal activities who had suspected, but not necessarily confirmed, TdA connections. To date, APD has now linked 10 people to TdA and has arrested eight of those people," read the statement.

These guys don't look like friendly neighbors. Click on the tweet to see each of their names and what they're accused of.

The statement continued:

"Two of the eight individuals who were taken into custody were involved in a July shooting at one of the specific properties in the city that have experienced issues with TdA activity. In line with these arrests, we can also now confirm that criminal activity, including TdA issues, had significantly affected those properties."

Tren de Aragua is a Venezuelan prison gang, and many of its members here in the U.S. are illegal aliens. Charges include child abuse, attempted first-degree murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, and more.

Colorado is a sanctuary state, and the Biden-Harris regime has virtually put a welcome mat at the southern border, leading to such gang activity becoming more and more of a problem. Authorities are also investigating gang Tren de Aragua action in Arapahoe County and Denver.

The Democrats and the media keep trying to tell us it isn't happening—an Axios headline Wednesday reads, "Unfounded Venezuelan gang rumors spill into national immigration debate"—but video such as this doesn't make it look unfounded to me:

It's encouraging that authorities finally seem to be taking this problem seriously and are cracking down. The question remains, though: why was this allowed to happen in the first place? The answer: "sanctuary state" ridiculousness and Biden-Harris' complete dismantling of former President Trump's border policies. I highly doubt this is the last we'll hear of such problems.
