Republican Dan Bishop won the special election in South
Carolina’s ninth district by two percentage points over Democrat Dan McCready
in a race that garnered national attention as a possible preview of the 2020 presidential
election.
Little media attention was paid to the election results
of Robeson County that has a large African American and Native American population, which makes up the majority of the voters.
In that county, Republican Dan Bishop did
much better than Republican Mark Harris fared in last November’s race.
This is an indication that President Donald Trump’s
support among black voters is increasing due to his policies and actions that
are improving the economic prosperity of back Americans.
Under President Trump, the unemployment rate for
African-Americans fell to 5.5%, a new record low.
