The goons attacking Trump rallies — and the liberals who enable them
Violence struck another Donald Trump rally Thursday — and once again it was lefty thugs assaulting peaceful Trump fans. Will Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders denounce the goons — or go along with the liberals blaming Trump?
On Thursday, protesters ambushed people leaving the San Jose Convention Center. Many "only" berated the Trump supporters as racists, but others pelted them with eggs and water balloons. And some goons got physical, with sucker-punches to the face as well as grabbing and burning "Make America Great Again" hats.
And in some cases, San Jose cops just stood by and watched.
Mayor Sam Liccardo apparently had no problem with that, saying, "Our police officers have done an extremely courageous and professional job so far. We're all still holding our breath to see the outcome of this dangerous and explosive situation."
What? These radicals aim to provoke their victims into fighting back, so as to "justify" even greater anti-Trump violence. Which makes police passivity doubly dangerous.
Worse, Liccardo, a Clinton supporter, had the gall to blame Trump: "At some point Donald Trump needs to take responsibility for the irresponsible behavior of his campaign."
Will Clinton disavow his delusional idiocy — and the mob violence he all but justified? How about Sanders, some of whose supporters were surely among the protesters?
Let's be clear here: Nothing in Trump's rhetoric remotely justifies this violence. It's an assault not simply on fans of the candidate, but on the right of free assembly, the right of free speech — that is, on democracy itself.
